Why do rip off report complaints rank so high on Google?

Why do rip off report complaints rank so high on Google? Being in the reputation management industry and working with one of the leaders in the industry I see this question a lot and there are many answers to this question. A few factors that play a role in why rip off report ranks good on Google are as follows:

Rip Off Report has been online since 1998 (11 Years Old)
Rip Off Report has 400,000+ Pages Indexed On Google
Rip Off Report Has ½ Million Complaints Filed On Their Site
Ripoffreport is one of the top 10,000 sites in the world. (Per Alexa)
Over 300,000+ Page Views Per DAY = 9 Million Per Month!
Rip Off Report has a high Google PageRank and Subpage PageRank.
Rip Off Report has a lot of media linking to them.

The factors above and others make rip off report an authority site in Google’s world and it makes rip off report one of the most popular sites in the world. This is why when someone files a complaint, within 24 hours or less it will normally rank very high on Google.

Microsoft Debuts Social Media Monitoring

Microsoft yesterday unveiled a monitoring tool that’s designed, among other things, to improve a marketing organization’s ability to adjust to social media phenomena on the fly.

Called “Looking Glass,” the product is still in prototype and will only be available to a few companies in the near term. It sends e-mail alerts when social media activity picks up considerably. The sentiment (i.e., negative or positive) of that chatter and the influence level of the content creator are reported in the alert. Digital flow charts show what days of the week generate the most activity on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and other social media sites.

But interweaving social media data with reporting from other campaign channels may turn out be Microsoft’s most significant contribution to the already mature field of social media analytics. Feeds from social media sites can be connected to other business elements like customer databases, CRM centers and sales data within an organization. The data integrate via Microsoft’s enterprise platforms like Outlook and Sharepoint.

A handful or so companies will begin testing Looking Glass in the coming weeks. According to a spokesperson, the company hopes to release it to the broader marketing public sometime next year.

Keep social networks private

Keep social networks private. One way to prevent snooping eyes is to keep your social networking profiles confidential to all except those you approve. This will keep informal viewers from seeing your information, good or bad.

Most social networks allow you to set proivacy settings for your account. By keeping your profile provate so only approved friends can view it, you will control who sees what you say and post. You certainly do not want a potential client or employer seeing pictures of your bacholer party!

Consider pseudonyms or alias to protect your reputation!

Consider pseudonyms. If you do want to keep a blog or engage in arguments on Internet message boards, create a name for yourself to hide behind so you can’t be easily tracked.

It is ok to create an alias on forums and public posts. By doing this you will protect your id and your name. People online are very sensitive to controversial posts and may take what you say personally.

We recommend using a pseudonym

Rip Off Report Adds Google Maps Link

Rip Off Report has changed the way they use your address in their reports. They are using a new format that allows Google to pull your address out the Rip Off Report. Now when your Rip Off Report is listed in the search results there is an additional link that says, “Show Map of…”. This additional information makes Rip Off Report rank stronger in Google and make your complaint stand out from other links. We have adjusted our content techniques to address this new issue. It is important that you provide us your address and allow it to be used in our process to address this new issue.

Reputation Management Tip Of The Day

Keep your cool. You may be irritated at what someone has said about you online, but don’t let it illustrate. Keep your fury to yourself and off the Internet where it can do more damage than good.

Did you know by commenting on a complaint link or adding a rebuttal to an online complaint you are adding more content to the complaint?! By adding a comment (especially a nasty one) you will be simply adding more fuel to the fire. The comment will rank higher on search engines like Google, if you place a comment or rebuttal. As much as you would ike to add something to the complaint to tell your side of the story we recommend that you refrain from doing so. If you must add something please understand that this will make pushing it further down search results harder and take longer.

Remember the whole world can read your comment and see your name if you add it to the comment. The comment may even create an entirely new link on Google, making it easier to find the online complaint about you or your company.

Try to think about it before you post!

All Campaigns On Track

All Reptation Armor campaigns are on track. Remember that reputation management takes time and the search engines (like Google) do not like to see too much new content to fast. Sometimes it is important that we pause on campaigns for a few days to give all of the new changes a chance to set in. Just because you may not see new changes in search results everyday does not mean we are not working.

Usually you will see new information hitting Google within 5-7 days after we start the reputation repair process. Rarely do we guarantee an exact time-frame on when a specific complaint link will move down. We work as fast as possible and try to keep our work looking “natural” to Google.

Google will know that something is up if there are 2500 new pages online about you within 1 week if there is normally only 2-3 new ones a week. We must slowly drip out new content and new backlinks to the content. Please be patient while we assist you. Thank you for allowing us to serve you.

Reputation Management Tip

Reputation Armor gets several new clients per week and dozens of phone calls and emails from potential clients. One thing that we run in to on a regular basis is over 50% of the people we talk to that have online complaints about their name (FirstName LastName), DO NOT register  “TheirName”.com. This is a huge mistake that can lead to a reputation management nightmare.

By not registering your own domain name you are opening up the opportunity for ANYONE to register “YourName”.com (.net, .org, .us, .biz) or whatever the extension may be. The thing that should worry you is that the URL (domain name) is so keyword rich! So when someone searches it will most likely show up high without much SEO effort or knowledge.

It is simple to develop you own dotcom. You can simply have wordpress install (like this site), then all you have to do is log-in weekly and post something! Anything!

We can help you install wordpress. We offer a service that includes 1 domain name, Free Hosting, and installation of wordpress with a custom header like our site here has. All for $299.00. Let us know if we can help you.
